Knightsbridge in Second Life

hello

Knightsbridge could really be described as the hub of the London sims.  It’s where it all began early in 2007, and to this day it still has the atmosphere that makes it feel like the nucleus of the virtual Capital.

When Knightsbridge had been the only London sim, it had drawn many visitors, even in those early days, because of the wonderful Underground Club and the feel that you were stepping into the real Knightsbridge with its familiar London thoroughfare.
The virtual Knightsbridge is rapidly becoming the focus for real life businesses and trade, as real companies move into the sim.  SL Knightsbridge offers luxurious office space and smart stylish shops for rent.  There are apartments and houses too for people who wish to live in the area.  The virtual shops report that they do a very good trade in SL Knightsbridge, and the quality of the merchandise is in keeping with the area.  Adding to the colourful assortment of shops, there are also couple of Public Houses, The Tea Clipper and The Three Bells.

One very unusual feature in SL Knightsbridge is the Underground Tube Station, situated near the Underground Club. As you follow the tunnels down to the platform you will see the trains pulling into the station.  You can actually ride the trains, just like real life, but without the pushing and shoving of the crowds.

The real Knightsbridge is actually a road, which gives its name to the surrounding area.  Knightsbridge is to the West of Central London and was originally a small locality outside of the City of London between the villages of Chelsea, Kensington and Charing.  At the time of Edward I, the Manor of Knightsbridge belonged to the Abbey of Westminster.  It was named Knight’s Bridge after a crossing at the River Westbourne, which is now an underground river.

Virtual Knightsbridge has an awful lot to offer, both business wise and socially.  Visitor to the area love the choice of shops and services, and the people who to live and work there enjoy the friendly vibrant feel of the sim.  People tend to stay in Knightsbridge on a long term basis, which speaks for itself in respect of the area’s great success.
