What People Say About The Event

hello
FOTE09 Feedback and comments from participants

The team worked hard to bring this event to Second Life

So it's good to see that our efforts have been appreciated.

Here is some feedback we had from the event:
  • I was supposed to go to the event, but I had flu – I am so thrilled to know I can attend the event here.

  • I have to work so cannot attend, I am interested in the Virtual World session so will come back later.

  • Bryony Inglewood: (Cambridge UK) It's been great to be here, thank you to the Virtually-Linked team who've organised everything. SL brings a little more of the social to the space, whereas Elluminate etc can be very dry. And if I was going to be at a RL conf, I'd see clothing etc and be able to talk about that. Which I can do here :)

  • nahiram Vaniva: thanks , Debs, for bringing this conference to SL

  • Julala Demina: I am often attending conferences somewhere far away via SL, be nice to think others come to UK via SL too. Right now I am interacting with a conference I would otherwise not be able to interact with and maybe it's less to do with "what you can do" more about "how you can do it", about meeting different learning styles, appealing to a generation that find this engaging where they may not be engaged in other ways

  • Silversprite Helsinki: Because of SL I can closely follow #FOTE09 while in a branch of Ladbrokes, following the 2016 Olympic betting. 7 minutes to decision.

  • Starling Rhode: students hate going to lectures ;-) /  SL is a great way to attend a conference without catching swine flu, which by the sounds of it is prevalent in the RL conference.

  • Raz Ryba: Ty, FOTEfolk

  • Indiana Nirvana: (Thu Oct  8 16:28:27 2009) I am from the UK and an undergraduate student at Anglia Ruskin University.  I am in SL working on my dissertation entitled 'The Effective use of the Second Life Interactive Platform for the Presentation of Archaeological Information'.  I first used SL in a commercial context between Jauary 2006 and April 2008, when I worked on a media based project.  In December 2007, we were the first operation to stream independent film into SL.  I thought the FOTE09 was an interesting and thought provoking event and that the use of SL as a channel for delivery was highly appropriate.  I look forward to the next show!  Indiana Nirvana
  • Silversprite Helsinki: Hi Debs. I am John Kirriemuir in RL. I thought the event was enjoyable (I dipped in and out), and having an SL option added to it. Time and money constraints meant I couldn't attend in person, but the SL addition meant I could chat to some of the 'attendees' about some of the presentations.
