A community is a group of like-minded people who all share an ideal, a location or a dream.
They hope, aspire, love and enjoy one another. They create a future - together. They fight, argue and quarrel. They negotiate and adapt to each other, never rejecting one another, but finding a mutual path forward because of their mutual understanding and agreement about their purpose.
They have come together because of common interests in their past, they work together to enhance those interests now and evolve the community for a future of mutual benefit. This is the future now.
We are at the next step towards future human interaction. - Virtual Worlds.
These worlds are inside 'cyberspace' (there, said it!) and just like the natural world there are dark places, nice places, dangerous places and peaceful places.
In the mixed reality of cyber- and natural worlds, we have many communities, this is but one - London. Our London is based in Kensington in the real world, inside our offices on Kensington Church Street. This is the hub of our activity in the real world, but also in the virtual world of Second Life, where we have a mirror world of London.
This world began in 2007, when Knightsbridge was born, soon after came Chelsea and Mayfair, shortly after, with the sponsorship of DMGT, Kensington was birthed in 2008. This led to the instigation of The Greyhound Project, where realities collided and our first mixed reality event happened. The latest additions in 2009 are Hyde Park, where new residents to London are born and Soho, which is the home to an exclusively adult population.
Our business partners help support the platform for London along with our 'in-world' commercial clients and residential friends.
We have a thriving community, based around the clubs, pubs and entertainment available in London. We are moving more towards mixed-reality so there will be increasing interaction between people inside virtual worlds and those outside.
To join our community, sign up for a Second Life account, choose to enter through a community and then select London as your home. You will find a great welcome for you in Hyde Park.
Virtual Commerce provides an immersive world where people 'live' in a Virtual World navigated by millions from around the globe.
The London region combines community with brand.
Currently operating within Second Life, our social network examines brands through community. We feel emotional about what we buy and talk about it - something that is missing from static web pages.
People come here to visit Virtual London as a prelude to planning a real trip, for advice about where to go and what to see - and to meet the real people of London beforehand.
Londoners meet up here to arrange events and meetings in their real worlds. They come to buy goods; to purchase a luxury item 'virtually' and have it delivered to their door. Entertainment is always 'hot' on the list in virtual worlds. We have plenty of it on offer. Part of Virtual London is shown below as an example of our extensive ability to bring life to realistic environments in 3D virtual worlds.
